Summer Reading Program and Other Activities

Books and Beyond, Take Me to Your Reader Summer Reading Program
Children ages three through high school are invited to join the Summer Reading Program, June 11 through July 31. This year's themes are "Books and Beyond: Take Me to Your Reader" for preschool and elementary school children and "2001: A Book Odyssey" for seventh grade and up. Children may earn prizes based on the number of library books checked out and read.

Children ages six and older are invited to attend the following:

Colby Tillitson will present a program of music, magic, and comedy at 4 P. M., Thursday, July 5, at the Hesperia Branch Library. Colby will be performing celebrity musical impressions and magic, along with audience participation.

"Reptiles and Beyond" will be presented at 4 P.M., Thursday, July 12, at the Hesperia Branch Library. Animal Ambassadors will display and discuss reptiles.

Dave Morgan will present Native American flute music at 4 P.M., Thursday, July 19. He will display various flutes and play flute music.

"Cartoons and Beyond" will be presented by Clayton Moore at 4 P.M., Thursday, July 26, at the Hesperia Branch Library. Mr. Moore will demonstrate and discuss the fine points of cartooning and caricatures.

Tuesday, July 31, 2001 Young adult summer reading program finale will be held at 4 P.M., Thursday, July 31, at the Hesperia Branch Library, 9565 Seventh Avenue. Young adults who have read 5 or more books more in Hesperia Branch's summer reading program are invited to attend. There will be music, games, drawing, prizes, food and sodas.
